Today starts two weeks of my wife and kids dog sitting for one of my wifes aunts. My wifes aunt has a handful of Irish Setters that she shows and boarding the dogs can get pricey. Since they went on vacation they are paying my wife to dog sit the dogs. I figure during these two weeks I’ll take the time to clean the house some and work on some projects that I have not been able to spend alot of time on. The first thing I want to do is start fleshing out some of my personal writing ideas. It has been a long time since I have written a story and I figure a good time to start is now.
I also want to get back into Role Playing Games. It’s been awhile and playing Dungeons and Dragons has always been fun. Unfortunately I’m also tired of the same ole same ole medieval time game. I have decided to dive back into Rifts even though it seems to have changed some since I last played. Rifts is made by Palladium and they have a good rule system and seem to have come out with more universes. My first Palladium game was their Robotech game, then TMNT. I played Rifts some and still have the original Rifts rule book and the Vampire Kingdom world book but I think I will need to update my collection of books that’s been hiding in the garage or lost. Last time I played After The Bomb wasn’t a seperate set of rules and was just an expansion for TMNT.
Work has been going well. I get to run the new tools that we have purchased as well as one existing tool. The DynaTrace tool looks very promising. Splunk looks interesting, but not as interesting as the Dyna Trace tool. I also get to manage our Coradiant devices. Though the first thing I need to do is cleanup and some changes as our products have shifted. One of the last things i want to do is also create some integration tools to unify and centralize our access and tools. I plan on doing it both as a web based application as well as a desktop application. Though for the desktop I have not decided if I want to use C#, C++ or Flex. Currently I’m leaning to C#. The web based side I have been debating between Python and Ruby though at this time I have started using Ruby for some early prototypes and might just continue on that path.
Only time will tell what I end up doing.
